The ’60s were interesting times. Detroit was brimming with new music, between all the various Motown acts and emerging artists like Bob Seger.
They were also trying times for up and comers like myself and the members of my band at the time, The Dan Yessian Quintet. We were no Beatles or Rolling Stones, but in my mind we were something special. Would others see what I saw?
We were fortunate to create a buzz on the radio with a few tunes, prompting us to play various functions and events. One of those occasions was the television show, “Swingin’ Time” hosted by radio personality Robin Seymour. The special guest on the show was Brenda Lee, famous for her holiday song “Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree”.
