My heart is broken having learned of Burt Bacharach’s passing. I’ve been told that my own compositions were tinged with Burt’s writing style, and that wasn’t any accident as he was a huge influence on me and many other composers.
I’m blessed to say that I purchased Burt Bacharach’s Steinway piano back in 2005, if that’s any indication of how inspiring he was. That is something I’ll keep until my dying day. If a piano could tell stories…
When I started composing An Armenian Trilogy in 2014 I sat at that very piano and felt the music run through me, wondering “Am I writing this music, or is it writing itself?”
