I’m very saddened to report that my good friend Simon Javizian has recently passed. Simon was a corner stone of the Armenian community. Not only was he a funeral director for many years but he was also a great musician.

When Simon decided to retire from the band he once led I was called upon by the other members to replace him. I was all of 16 years old back then. But, those were big shoes to fill. I had no illusions I could meet his performance skills.

He was a kind and generous man who exuded exceptional class while serving all those around him. If you knew him as I have for all these years you would go away thinking they don’t make em like that anymore.

I interviewed Simon a couple years back. You’re welcome to get a glimpse of the man’s character in the following podcast.

God rest your soul Simon. I know the Lord will look kindly upon you.
